From Community Involvement to City Leadership
I didn't begin my public service career by running for Mayor.
For years, I learned about Florence from the ground up serving our community, listening to residents and gaining an understanding of how decisions are made that affect neighborhoods, businesses and families.
My service has included serving on Florence City Council, the city's planning committee, along with leadership roles in regional organizations addressing transportation, economic development, public health, housing and other issues facing Northern Kentucky.
Those experiences, coupled with business ownership experience and leadership roles in non-profit organizations such as the Jaycees, have prepared me for the responsibility of serving as Mayor.
Today, when Florence faces a complicated decision involving finances, development, traffic, infrastructure, or public safety, I understand both the history behind the issue and the people and organizations we need to bring together to solve it.
Leadership Means Listening-And Acting
One of the most important parts of being Mayor happens outside the Florence Government Center.
I enjoy talking with residents at community events, visiting local businesses, attending neighborhood activities and simply learning what people have to say.
Sometimes those conversations are about major issues. Sometimes they're about a pothole, or a concern in one of our parks or neighborhoods. I especially love the ideas to improve our city from residents that live here. My aim is that we make Florence a stronger community together.
Every conversation matters.
But I also believe caring about our community and listening is only the beginning.

Keeping Taxes Low
Florence has made important progress over the past four years. We've lowered tax rates, for three consecutive years. This has provided a 13% reduction in property taxes for both businesses and residents.
In addition, my administration proposed a 20% reduction in the insurance premium tax that was adopted by city council this past year.
By working with Council to budget wisely, employ sound financial planning and prudent investments, our city is able to meet all our obligations and provide a high level of service to our residents.
I have found my service as Mayor is a perfect fit to leverage my background as a business owner, non-profit leader, strong manager, and advocate for families who are asking us to cut unnecessary spending and manage tax dollars wisely.
As a mom, my most important job is to be a role model to my son, Brady. I want my family, as well as yours, to be proud to call Florence home.

Under my leadership, Florence has prospered.
I am proud of the progress the city has made in a fiscally responsible manner that includes lowering real estate taxes for our citizens.
As Northern Kentucky's commercial hub, we are continuing to build on that foundation with disciplined and strategic growth.
Embracing new technology in many forms, including the use of Adaptive Signal Technology to reduce traffic congestion in the U.S. 42 corridor.
Placing a strong emphasis on citizen engagement and transparency programs such as 'Coffee with the Mayor', our YouTube Channel, the Mayor's Academy, the online budget transparency portal, and many others.
I have been pleased to work with Council in the areas of promoting greater citizen interaction, providing improved amenities for our residents through our parks & recreation and ensuring that our economic impact remains vital.

The next four years aren't about changing Florence into someplace else.
They're about protecting what we love about our community while addressing today's challenges and preparing for tomorrow's opportunities.
I believe Florence's best days are still ahead.
With experienced leadership, responsible financial management, and a willingness to work together, we can continue building a Florence that is safe, financially strong, welcoming and a great place to call home.
My priorities remain:

-Complete Traffic & Infrastructure projects already underway
-Complete the Parks Transformation through implementation of the next phase of the Parks Master Plan
-Protect our residents and businesses through exceptional Police, Fire & EMS services
Understanding How Florence Government Works:
Florence operates under a Mayor-Council form of government, which establishes distinct roles for the Mayor and City Council. Both roles are important-but they are not the same.
The Mayor serves in a full-time role as the city's executive, responsible for the day-to-day operations of city government. The mayor manages over 260 employees, oversees the implementation of a budget exceeding $50 million dollars and serves as the spokesperson for the city.
City Council serves in a part-time role exercising the City's legislative authority by adopting ordinances, municipal orders and resolutions. Council also establishes policy, employee and elected official compensation and the City budget.
