DR. Julie Metzger Aubuchon: serving the city of Florence

As a long-time member of the City of Florence Planning and Zoning Committee, Dr. Aubuchon has first hand knowledge of successful tools needed to ensure developments meet high standards and bring about revitalization of the city.  During her tenure, she has reviewed plans for hundreds of developments. Notable development projects include:

• Residential Developments 
• Mall Road corridor revitalization.
• Industrial Developments
• Senior Housing 
• Healthcare facilities

As Mayor, Dr. Aubuchon has committed to  maintain a fiscally conservative spending plan that allows the city to provide services without raising taxes.

• Real Estate Taxes have decreased by 3% in 2024 and 2025.
• Insurance premium tax rates will decrease 20% in 2026.
• Under Mayor Aubuchon's direction, the city's funds are strategically investment for prudent financial management. 
• The city maintains an excellent credit rating and bond rating.

Dr. Aubuchon, as a representative of Florence, fosters relationships with community partners.

• Dr. Aubuchon has served as vice president for the Municipal Government League of Northern Kentucky. 
• Dr. Aubuchon is a delegate to community boards that deal with Early Childhood, Housing and Economic Development.
• The City has supported its adopted unit out of Ft. Campbell on many deployments overseas.

The safety and security of our citizens is of paramount importance. Mayor Aubuchon and Council will continue to budget our resources wisely so that our first responders have the tools they need to respond to any situation that may be presented.

Continuous planning for equipment replacement ensures that our employees operate safe vehicles on their way to "save the day" for our residents. Our police department responds to over 50,000 calls for service annually.

Florence is now the busiest Fire and EMS department in Northern Kentucky making over 11,000 calls for service each year. Our highly trained department welcomed our fourth fire station on Dream Street.

Our public services department is truly what distinguishes Florence as a first-class, full service city.  As a member of council, Mayor Aubuchon ensured that this department has the funding it needs to implement infrastructure projects in an innovative way.  She continued that support as Mayor by initiating many projects such as the New Buffington Road, the "smart signal" upgrades to US 42, and Weaver Road sidewalks. The department administers the city's street network, water distribution, sewer collection, and implements all capital projects for the City. Florence is also one of the first communities in the state to create a Transportation Improvement District to leverage state and federal funds for road projects.

Under Mayor Abuchon's direction, the City of Florence has begun it's implementation of the Parks Master Plan. This Master Plan was developed with citizen input through surveys, public meetings and online funding exercises. We anxiously await the construction of the approved amenities in our six year-round active parks. 

The City of Florence is a great place to live, work and play.  With many City events, there's always something happening around town.
